A hydrophobic glass coating is a practical safety upgrade. Water beads aggressively above ~50 km/h and slides off the windscreen without wipers, ice scrapes off more easily in winter, and bug splatter rinses away rather than baking on. We polish the glass before applying the coating to ensure a clean bond, then apply two layers with a proper cure between coats. The result lasts up to a year on the windscreen (high wiper wear) and longer on side windows.
